I have just got home from the 'Relay for Life' meeting. Tonight i had the privlidge to meet a cancer surviour.. she is only 21... At 15, her family and friends noticed something odd about her shoulder.. it turned out she had a type of cancer of the bone. She immediately had chemotherapy.. then radiation.. then more raditation.. and finally she had to have her arm removed. She then found out that the cancer had spread to her lungs. This girl is such an inspiration. She has survived cancer!!! She is now dedicated to educatin others about cancer prevention and helping raise funds to find a cure!
Those that have registered for the relay and are under 18 i need you to fill out a under 18's form. please get one from me in class this week.
I also have cancer carer and cancer surviour forms to receive a sash and participate in the carer and surviour walk. This is a very special and moving part of the relay, to thank those that do such an amazing job of caring for those in such a difficult time and to meet those who have survived cancer!
I am also selling "hope" bags for $1, which is a bag that is laid out at dusk with a candle inside spelling the word "hope". Hope that we can find a cure for cancer and hope that those can fight through cancer. You can write a message, draw a picture or dedicate your bag for someone who has been touched by cancer.
You can also "fast donate" through the relay for life website www.relay.cancercouncil.com.au go to "pink magic" (it is in the process of being changed to stepping out) and click "fast donate"
Or.. you can sell some raffle tickets or make a donation.
Lets get behind this amazing cause! every little bit makes a difference to help fight cancer!!!
