WATER WATER WATER!!!!!!!
Summer has hit us hard and fast this year and it is more important than ever that you make sure you bring a bottle of water! Students are working so hard at this time of year in preparation for our amazing concert. Parents please make sure your child has a bottle of water and if they are in more than one class make sure there is enough to last them all their classes.
There are many problems that can arise if students aren't hydrating themseleves at dancing, especially in this heat. Some of the symptoms that can occur are headaches, dizziness, nausea and fainting. These can lead to other injuries at dancing.
Other factors to consider is dressing appropriately for dancing in this heat (not wearing layers on layers) and bringing a towel.
So please make sure you are prepared for dancing to keep you all happy, healthy and safe =)
Keep up the hard work everyone!!! This years concert is going to be amazing!

Make- up tips from Miss Rikki
It's that time of year again when we dive into our treasure trove of make up and get our little darlings looking gorgeous for the stage! Why do we need to put make up on the kids? Well, though your little dancer may look like a mini drag queen off stage, I can assure you that on stage, they will just look like their sweet little self (with just a touch more pizzazz.) The lighting used can wipe them out and make it very hard for them to dazzle us with their brightest smiles so they need a little help to highlight their features PLUS IT'S FUN! Little girls love make up!Mums, I feel your pain....it's hard to get animated, excited little faces still long enough to weave your magic wand. And then there is the liquid eye liner....oh and the tears, you forget how easily and often little faces can crumple into tears until you spy your pain stakingly applied handi work sliding down their faces. BUT know this, it does get easier and quicker. A little bit of practise before the big day and you are good to go. Remember, children, like animals smell fear! Go into the application with confidence and assertiveness. You are a make up magician. Here is my guide to lighting up our Junior's faces.
* Use a foundation in their shade ( you can go one shade darker than skin tone for stage but make sure you cover neck etc as well). I suggest using a sponge to apply. It's much quicker and much better for coverage. Some skin tones may not require much foundation.
* DO use powder to blot out shininess and it will help rest of make up to go on with ease and stay on.
* Use a white highlighter (shadow or powder form- some have a real sheen or a glitter) and lightly place under eye area and along cheekbone. Get your little one to suck in cheeks and generously apply hot pink blusher (for very rosy cheeks.)
* Closing eyes, cover entire eye area in white or ivory eyeshadow. Using a mauve/lilac eye shadow cover entire eye lid. Accentuate corner of eye with a darker purple shade. Trace top lid with crayon eye liner in black and extend along eye in a cat's eye. (I use a crayon liner rather than pencil as it is easier on little faces). Use crayon liner under eye as well but below natural line so as to enlarge eyes.
* Use a white eye liner in corner of eyes on both sides.
* If using false eye lashes apply now. Use glue on both lashes and paint along upper lid. Press firmly and hold until fully dry. If not using eye lashes ( on little ones etc) just use mascara on top and lower lashes. Apply LOTS especially if they are fair.
* You can then if you like go over crayon with liquid eye liner ( I use the pen ones) as again they are much easier.
* On fair children , it is important to draw in eye brows in slightly darker shade than hair. Just lightly colour in.
* Outline lips in lip liner- I colour in lips with it as well and then apply lip stick! HOT PINK- as bright as you can find!!
There are always lots of mums who have been there, done that all before and remember their first days of making up their children and who are only too happy to help! Please ask us if we can help you! Concerts should be fun and not stressful!

DANCE SPECTACULAR BALL
A big thankyou to all of the girls in the senior performance team and to the gorgeous Bella for their outstanding performance at the Orange Dance Spectacular Ball last Saturday night!
The Orange Dance Group Inc recently held a Dance Spectacular Ball where our girls were invited to perform. The ball showcased many different styles of dance, these included Jazz, Hip hop, Tap, Contemporary, Modern, Waltz and Ballroom styles to raise money for the Premi Babes Association and Riding for the Disabled.
The performance team showcased their contemporary and jazz routine which the audience just loved! Our gorgeous Bella also amazed the crowd with her Tap solo. Well Done Girls!!
A huge Thankyou to Miss Steph for her awesome leadership and organisational skills.

SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT..
I have just finished reading 'Moas Last Dancer' and i thought i would share with you something that really touched me.....
"I truely believe that the ultimate measure of one's success in life is not what position you have occupied or how much you have, but what kind of person you have become, what differences you have made to the people around you" Li Cunxin

WICKED!
What can be said about WICKED?? I am speechless! The musical was absolutely AMAZING, OUTSTANDING, MAGICAL, INSPIRING, UNBELIEVABLE! Everything about the show was spectacular, the cast, the costumes, the music, the lighting, the dancing. The moment the Elphaba (the Wicked Witch of the West) began singing i had goose bumps! A story that leads you on a journey that you dont know how it will end. If you get the chance to go, you wont be disappointed! Check out the website www.wickedthemusical.com.au to view the trailer and much much more!

Bella Fisher and Maddy Alexander have been working hard with Miss Leesa over the past few months and will take the stage on Tuesday. Bella has already competed in Dubbo and Gulgong Eisteddfod. Maddy will be dancing in Jazz and Bella in Jazz, Modern, Tap and Ballet.
Emily Gough, Dee Larkin and Tegan Oswald will be taking to the stage on Thursday evening in the Modern Expressive section. Jodie Burns will be taking the stage on Friday to compete in the contemporary section. I met with you on Saturday and you are all looking so amazing. You have worked so hard and you are all already stars in my eyes. Enjoy every minute you are performing and remember to 'dance with your heart' show everyone what you have showed me... your love of dance.
I also wanted to wish Gabby Gough all the best on Thursday, she was entered to perform on Thursday but will be having braces put on. I see Gabby every week and every week she improves. She takes on board everything i say about what she can improve on and is back the following week looking more amazing. Miss Leesa took an extra dress rehearsal yesterday and has just told me how beautifully Gabby danced, moving some to tears. I congratulate your dedication Gab. I will be thinking of you on Thursday.

TERM 2 NEWSLETTER
Hi everyone!
I hope everyone had a great break and a very happy Mothers day!! We are well and truly into term 2 and it is flying by so fast! So much has happened! Those that don’t know Miss Leesa and husband Aaron welcomed their beautiful baby boy Phoenix Erwin Chaseling into the world on May 9th. Just in time for Mothers Day!!
Long weekend
Classes will be running as usual for the long weekend including public holiday Monday 8th June.
Grooming
Just a reminder that it is very important that all students are dressed correctly for dance. Ballet: leotard, stockings, correct ballet shoes. All other styles: non-restrictive clothing (not jeans)jazz shoes or boots, or runners. This is very important for the safety of students to allow for correct technique and correction.
Class times
Please ensure students arrive on time to class. Also, teachers often arrive at the studio half an hour prior to classes to allow for preparation, students can be dropped off 10minutes before class begins.
Fees
You should have all received your fees either in class or in the mail. These are now overdue. If you have any questions regarding your invoice or if you have not received one please speak to your teacher.
Future stars
Over the past couple of weeks the future stars have developed a ‘need’ to all go to the toilet. We understand that when you” need to go you need to go”, but it would be a huge help if they could please go before class with their parents or carer. Thank you!
End class date
The last class for term 2 is Saturday 11th July. We will resume classes on Monday 27th July.
Blog
Stepping out Orange, Dubbo and Forbes have a blog which is updated regularly. So check it out at
www.steppingoutorange.blogspot.com
We post up and coming news, photos, stories.. so stay up to date with dance!!
Thanks
